Have you ever wondered what dermatographia looks like as it appears and then disappears? Well now you can see it firsthand! I made this video to illustrate the process:
First I start with a template (since the drawing takes a few minutes to appear, it’s hard to see what I’m doing without a template). This particular design is sails repeating to form a pattern. Hence the title of the video, Sailing.
Then I use my dull plastic knitting needle to trace the template design (this does not hurt at all, it’s just a light scratch). Lastly, I wait for the image to appear! And voilà , a temporary skin drawing.
Please share your own skin drawings and/or videos. Send to arianapage@ gmail. com and I’ll post them here on Skin Tome. Thanks!

I watch my four grandchildren, ages 11, 7, 4, and 1 1/2. The grandchildren think it’s great that they can write on me like a doodle board.it is so nice to see other people’s ways of dealing with it.
